The only props required for this game are a pair of scissors and a ball of string. Ask the Mom-to-be to stand up, turn around and show off her bump. Instruct the guests to each cut a piece of string to a length that will fit precisely around the middle of Mommy's belly. Wrap each string around the bulge so the ends overlap (or don't, as the case may be). The closest fit wins.

You said baby!

Make a necklace for each guest by hanging five safety pins from a knotted piece of string. As people enter the party, place the necklaces over their heads and explain the rules. Any time they hear someone say the word 'baby', they should take a pin from her necklace and add it to their own. The winner is the person with the biggest collection of safety pins at the end of the shower.

This game is also known as 'pin the sperm on the egg'. Make a poster to hang on the wall with an 'egg' target. If you're artistic, you can paint a womb, but a simple circle will do. Cut out 'sperms' from white card and put a blob of poster putty on the back of each one. Blindfold your volunteers, spin them around and see if they can get their sperm anywhere near the egg.

Instruct your guests that the winner is the person who can correctly identify the most brands of chocolate without touching or tasting the bars. The best part of this game comes when people start photographing their friends sniffing the diaper contents.

Bottle Contest

Purchase as many baby bottles as you have guests and fill them with milk. Add a dash of Irish cream liqueur if you like. Give everyone a bottle and signal them to start sucking. The person who finishes her bottle first wins. The empty bottles can be washed and given to the expectant Mom as a party favor.
