The invention of computer by Charles Babbage in the 1800s has dramatically changed the entire world. Since then the world of technology have evolved into the next level and people nowadays relies on computer in almost everything that they do in their lives. It clearly made the life of man kind easier and more convenient.

There are many things that computers have given us. Computer helped science a lot in finding cure to sicknesses and helped many people in prolonging their lives. Machines were invented to make diagnosis and treatment for illnesses easier and faster than ever before. In aviation, aircrafts nowadays are more advance and plane crashes and other accidents due to poor communication between the pilot and the control tower has been enhanced and airplane�s engine has been improve to make flights faster for everybody. Booking for airline tickets has never been the same; today by just a click of a button you can now book a flight where ever you are through the aid of computers.

Security in this recent time has also been improved by computers. It is safer to move around town of any cities because of the cameras that are installed on the street to help fight crime. People are now able to communicate in any part of the world by just a click of a button through chats, emails, and mms messaging. Tracking people is also possible through the aid of computer software. The help of the computer in people's lives is enormous. The convenient that invention of this machine and the advent of software that makes life easier is still going on. The possibilities are endless with the aid of this technology.

Life has never been easier. Computers and the software that were created give us the comfort that we need. Medical advancement with the help of the latest and the most modern facilities and equipment give people hope, especially those who are diagnosed with illnesses with no cure. Safety is also not a question nowadays; the advent of CCTV camera and other security gadgets that will protect us from any danger is available and are use by people in authority. Let's just not forget that the advance of technology nowadays can also be used to harm us if not properly use. We need to make use of these technologies in positive ways and improve our lievs.

The expansion in the power of computers and CAD workstations has grown exponentially over the last few deCADes as was predicted by Gordon E Moore in a notable white paper back in 1965. This predication became know as Moore's Law which has remained uncannily accurate ever since.
As computer processing power grew computer programs have been able to scale up in both their functionality as they are able to harness more power from their computing platform. Purist programmers would argue that this is led to poor programming practices and bloated programs which is essential true but this argument is pretty much invalid given today's computing power.
The current single chip X86 platform was originally launched in 1978 to the desktop market and effectively brought affordable computing to the masses. That said however X86 in not the most elegant of architectures but it has been refined to the point that it has now become mainstream and is used in a majority of modern desktop computing systems and laptop computers.
The growth in the development of the single processor whilst given a lot of R & D did not live up to original expectations despite significant advancements in manufacturing processes and ultimately a combination of excessive heat generation, environmentally unfriendly power consumption and potentially design challenges forced a re-think leading to the arrival of multi-core processors.
Most computer purchasers simply believed due to marketing hype and of course lack of knowledge that having more cores made a PC perform better but those in the know and power users will be well aware that this simply was and is not the case even though multi-processor architecture is significantly advanced compared to the early released breed of processors.
