Gwyneth Paltrow’s Weight Loss Success - By: Kelly Abbot

Gwyneth Paltrow’s post pregnancy weight loss was much harder second time around. She loves to eat good food and rumors are she really enjoys having some French fries once in a while. But the secret behind Paltrow’s stunning figure is the result of a healthy diet, a regular workout, not to mention perseverance and hard work. That’s what it takes to look so fit at 37, after giving birth to two kids.

The second time the weight did not come off easy: “[..] after the second one it was really stubborn. It was really hanging on. […] It was not easy and, when I started it, it was by far the hardest thing I have ever done – but I really was seeing results so it motivated me to just work through it.”

Paltrow also has been known to use a detox diet. This year Gwyneth recommends a juice fast from her friend's health food store Organic Avenue. You can also make juices yourself if you don’t have access to the store, which is in New York City. In addition to juices you are allowed some raw vegetables at night, as "ruffage" aids your body in its nightly sweep.

Gwyneth has tried many different diets. For example, before Iron Man 2 she had a rigorous diet. She subsisted on protein bars, vegetable juice and "super-low calories" recipes, while sticking with the punishing workouts devised by her trainer, Tracy Anderson. Paltrow got in shape for the film by following Anderson's exercise regime. Paltrow says, "Also, to really get in line, I followed her strict diet for 5 days to lose my extra winter weight. Now, I am not a good dieter and I cannot ever do it for long, only when there is a goal in sight, which there was in this case.”

After a 7am cup of green tea, breakfast is either a "Think Thin" protein bar or a "Clean Shake" comprising almond milk, powder supplements and "a handful of blueberries (optional)".

Then it is a 90-minute workout followed by a glass of kale juice - "a sort-of grassy lemonade" - and on to a lunch of "super low carb, low calorie tortilla wraps".

Paltrow's recipe for Lemony Grilled Chicken to accompany the wrap is as follows: "Marinated chicken breast in lemon juice and a tiny (emphasis on tiny) bit of olive oil. Season well and grill. Serve with the steamed vegetable or vegetable salad of your choice."

An afternoon snack of almonds or organic fermented tea is followed by Anderson's "super-low calorie" turkey kale soup for dinner.

The actress is planning on releasing a new cookbook titled My Father’s Daughter, in the memory of her father.
