Arm Pain And Its Causes - By: altruist

Arm pain can be terribly irritating and interfere with motion and concentration. It can be caused by arm strain due to lifting heavy loads, it can be the result of joint strain or rotator cuff injury, and it can be something as simple as sleeping in a position that causes you to strain or pinch your arm at night.

Pain in the shoulder can come from any anatomical structure within the joint. Another common source is the neck in the form of a herniated disc or pinched nerve. Less common sources of a painful shoulder are carpal tunnel syndrome (only in severe cases), an irritated diaphragm, or from a heart attack. Most commonly the shoulder itself is the culprit. There are some tell-tale signs to watch for and these include pain when lying on the shoulder, pain with overhead activities and general stiffness and loss of motion.

When muscles get overworked, your tendons get irritated and inflamed. This is usually where you feel the pain. The pain often shows up at the elbow or shoulder, where the muscle crosses a joint. This is where the tendon is likely to be rubbing across a bony surface, causing the painful inflammation.

Pain are usually caused by too much tension or too much pressure exerted on the arm, its joints, ligaments, or soft tissues. The pain could be the result of trauma or some other serious anatomical problem on the arm resulting from the abuses mentioned above. The most ideal thing to do is consult a medical professional to be sure what is the nature and what are the causes of the arm pains. One should not rely solely on pain relievers as their effects are only temporary.

Maybe you use your arm muscles a lot for work or for hobbies. Playing a musical instrument, gardening, building, and crafts can lead to inflammation. If your work is physical in nature, plus you have hobbies that overuse certain muscles, you might be straining your arm's muscles or soft tissue.Arm pain can also be caused by carpal tunnel syndrome, fibromyalgia and other conditions which may be considerations if it isn't tennis elbow.

Bad position and improper body mechanics can also lead to left arm shoulder pain. Bad positioning includes the posture one holds while sleeping. It also involves the prolonged position one usually hold for a long time at work, such as leaning on the left side for hours, among others.

Compression can result from movements which aggravate the wrist or arm, or from swelling of the tissues. Swelling and compression are most often the result of incorrect and repetitive usage of the hands, arm and body. This may be referred to as Repetitive Stress Injury (RSI) or Repetitive Movement Disorder. We move incorrectly when we move differently than the way we were built to move.

Another cause is old age. If we notice as people get's older they tend to get joint pains everywhere, and it tends to grow more frequently as time pass by. Rapid age growth initiates bone deterioration, gradually narrowing of the joints and loss of protective cartilage which makes it hard for us to move with ease in return causes the person to feel pain it narrow the.
