Languages and communities in India, vary to a great extent. One can find a number of variations in the castes, religions and cultures of people, as he moves from one district to another. In spite of different traditions and rituals, one thing, which remains common in all the Indian weddings, is the spirit with which the marriages in India are celebrated. One of the communities in India, which practises wedding ceremonies with all the precision and sacredness, is Jatav community. These people are known to hail from the Indian sub- caste of Chamars. They claim to have Brahmin and Kshatriya ancestors, due to which most of the Jatav Matrimonials are performed according to the Hindu cultures.

Jatav Matrimonials can be seen practised in the Indian states like western region of Uttar Pradesh, eastern part of Rajasthan, North- western Madhya and other parts of the country like Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Nepal and Jammu. Jatav community is considered to be the descendants of Kshatriya Shiva gotra & have their lineage from the Lord Shiva. Their name Jatav is said to be derived from the Jat community living in the regions of Punjab and northern India. Jatav matrimonies can be seen having high influence of Northern traditions. Songs and music played in the matrimonies of Jatav are generally in languages like Hindi, Rajathani, Braj and Punjabi, due to the prominence of these languages in the Jatav community.
Every community of India is different from the other in terms of their regional and traditional practises and so are Jatavs.

They enjoy their individuality in the Indian society with their lingual and dress up variation. Significant numbers of renowned personalities from Jatav community have helped in making India proud. Some of them are Kailash Kher, Dev Anand, Mayavati, etc. Thus, like every other caste, Jatavs also form an integral part of the Indian culture, adding to the fame and name of the country. There are some more personalities which belong to jatav community and they have done a lot for the country.
